Cyber Wardens Releases Cybercrime Guide to Protect Small Businesses
COSBOA’s Cyber Wardens program is warning businesses to be vigilant about scams and other cybercrime over the Christmas period.
The Council of Small Business Organizations Australia’s Cyber Warden initiative has released a Christmas guide to help small businesses protect themselves against cyber threats over the festive period.
The guide – Arrange the corridors with cybersecurity – details easy steps to follow to secure digital assets for business owners and their employees.
The Christmas period is typically marked by an increase in scams involving fake invoices, refund requests and customer complaints, all of which are becoming harder to spot thanks to the growing use of generative AI in content creation fraudulent.
The costs of such attacks are increasing. According to the latest figures from the Australian Signals Directorate, the average cost of a cyber attack on a small business is now more than $49,000.
Luke Achterstraat, CEO of COSBOA, said the new guide is an important tool to keep small businesses safe this year.
