Exclusive: fencing and site security company ATF Services confirms cyberattack
ATF Services confirmed the incident after ransomware gang INC Ransom claimed to have stolen a terabyte of data from the company.
The INC Ransom ransomware gang claimed to have successfully exfiltrated a terabyte of data from construction site security company ATF Services.
The gang listed ATF as a victim on its darknet leak site on November 23, when it shared details of the hack and several documents to prove its claims.
“We have 1TB of data from this company,” a spokesperson for the gang said, alongside documents proving the hack.
These include screenshots of file and folder structures, internal contact lists, loan and tax documents, debtor and creditor details, customer data and profit forecasts.
INC Ransom did not indicate a ransom demand or a ransom deadline. According to a counter on the leak site, details of the hack have been viewed 400 times as of this writing.
ATF Services has confirmed that it is aware of the incident.
“ATF Services is aware of a recent cyber incident that occurred in early October 2024,” an ATF Services spokesperson told Cyber Daily.
“We immediately engaged independent cybersecurity experts to contain the incident and investigate what happened. The investigation determined that the incident affected a limited set of company information.
“All relevant notifications have been made to employees as a precautionary measure. There is no evidence of misuse of personal information. Our systems are secure and we remain committed to protecting the personal information we hold.
“We sincerely apologize for any concern this incident may have caused.”
ATF Services is just one of 20 victims listed on the INC Ransom leak site in November alone. The gang has been active since August 2023 and has since attacked at least 204 organizations, mainly in Europe and the United States.
The gang is known for using spearphishing tactics to break into target networks and employs double extortion techniques, both by encrypting the data it steals and then threatening to publish it online.
ATF Services has offices throughout the country and offers temporary fencing, crowd control barriers, overhead security systems, as well as surveillance cameras and lighting through its Vision Intelligence business.
