Former UK defense secretary named partner of UK defense and cybersecurity company
Sir Ben Wallace has been made a partner at global investment firm Boka Capital after leaving the role.
Wallace had previously served as Secretary of State for Defense of the United Kingdom from July 2019 to August 2023, and previously Minister of State for Security at the Home Office from July 2016 to July 2019.
The global investment group, headquartered in London, has offices in New York, Washington, Austin, Colorado and Sydney.
A former officer in the Scots Guards, Wallace attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Millfield School in Somerset before serving in Northern Ireland, Germany, Cyprus and Central America in the 1990s.
“We are proud to welcome Sir Ben Wallace, former UK Defense Secretary, to the Boka management team as a partner,” Boka Capital said in a statement.
“With his unrivaled experience in leading the UK’s defense strategy and his understanding of the global geopolitical landscape, Sir Ben will bring a critical perspective to our mission of investing in defense technologies that strengthen national security and sovereign resilience.
“This is a pivotal moment for Boka as we continue to drive the growth of dual-use technology innovation, and we are delighted to have Sir Ben on board. »
The company would champion investment in sovereign resilience from a global perspective. He particularly focuses on security, defense, aerospace, advanced intelligence and quantum systems.
In August last year, Sir Wallace wrote a letter to the British Prime Minister announcing his resignation as Secretary of State for Defence.
“It has been my privilege to serve you and your predecessors in the task of protecting this great country and ensuring the security of its citizens,” he said.
“Since WannaCry, the 2017 terrorist attacks, the Salisbury poisonings, Afghanistan, Sudan and Ukraine, it has been an honor to serve alongside the men and women of our armed forces and intelligence services who sacrifice so much for our security.
“The last four years have seen our armed forces and their leadership shine. Whether it was the evacuation of Kabul, our COVID response, Ukraine or Sudan, the professionalism of our people has been top-notch.
“I am proud to have secured the GCAP, AUKUS, NCF, National Shipbuilding and Defense and Security industrial strategies which will secure thousands of British jobs for our young people for many years to come.”
