Italy’s largest football club, Juventus FC, has confirmed that an unauthorized user accessed its English X (formerly Twitter) account and posted a number of posts, including a fake player announcement.

On Monday October 21, the @juventusfcfen X account announced that Turkish footballer Arda Güler would join Juventus. He currently plays for Real Madrid.

“Welcome to Juventus, Arda Güler! The rising football star is now part of the #Juventus family,” the message read.

“Ready to make history together on this new journey,” the tweet continued, accompanied by emojis of the Turkish flag and a soccer ball.

A number of tweets written in Turkish were also posted by the account.

On its main Italian-language X account, Juventus FC quickly confirmed that the messages were fake and that the English account had been hacked by unauthorized users.

“Our Juventus English account has been compromised. Please ignore false information posted on this account. We are working on the problem,” Juventus wrote on their main X account @juventusfc.

Cyber Daily has since observed that the fake tweets have been deleted, suggesting that Juventus have regained control of their X account.
